I normally don't boot to runlevel 3. To terminate, I just click the shutdown icon in KDE 4. Alt > F7 doesn't take me back to X after using the init 3 command, i.e. nothing happens. Tried it twice and both times X shut down and started up again with no problems. There was no unix/XO to delete. Other posters in the opensuse forums have mentioned the problem with the nvidia installer stating that X was still running after using the init 3 command. After using the init 3 command, I find the /tmp/.X0-lock and /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 are there so I delete them. Then I use the startx command and get the following error: _XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed _XSERVTransMakeAl lCOTSServerListeners: server already running Fatal server error: Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already running. When I try to view the log files with cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log, I get the same XSERV errors as above.
