Sorry, I think you misunderstood my question.
When you run ionice without parameters this means: query the current processes
IO priority status and show this information.
Since the ionice_get() syscall is not supported here, how else should ionice
behave? It cannot print any valid information as expected, since this
information does not exist.
So, it dumps an error message, and exits with status 1.
I think this behaviour is the correct one and I don't think just viewing a
warning here that the call has just been omitted and exiting with status 0
should be done.
The difference to the other case which the patch fixes is, when running ionice
with a program argument you want this to be executed with the given IO
priority. If the the ioprio_set() call is not supported, it seems ok the
execute the program anyway, but just without the IO prio setting.
This seems reasonable and is what the patch does.
