More info:
After using "setxkbmap", and getting keyboard to partially work, Ctrl-Alt
combo works if I press "num-lock" to "off" (led off). Then going to the vmware
console, pressing num-lock several times, then go out of the console, restores
the keyboard.
Question.
Even if you will not fix this, do you know of a command to force the keyboard
to completely reset and work?
My guess is that vmware is interfering with some linux internal status flag or
counter used to know if the special keys are pressed or not. The keys work,
they are not interpreted correctly.
