This code uses standard X i2c infrastructure, which uses a counter to delay
touching bits, and is thus CPU dependant. I'm sure the driver used to be this
slow before too, but KDM probably didn't give up on it.

I have seen some other reports of this as well, and they are all about drivers
which, for different reasons, are wasting time somewhere. These issues cannot
all be fixed.
