First DDC retrieval is the radeon drivers interesting way of detecting monitor
presence. Instead of looking for the DDC slave address and getting an ACK from
that device, they tell X to read in _and_ parse the whole EDID block. Later on,
RandR, completely outside of the drivers control (as this is how RandR was
rather foolishly built up - breaking the X way of driver development introduced
with xfree86 4), does the same thing again.
So the driver does the slow DDC stuff twice per monitor at startup.
Will look into what is slowing ddc down for you now. It seems pretty ok here.
