https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=406967 Summary: Software-Update brokes GNOME and Evolution Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: marco.calistri@yahoo.com.br QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Other Hello, I periodically ran software updates by using opensuse-kde-updater. Among my repositories I have OSS; GNOME STABLE, opensuse-updates. Recently, after updating gtk2, gdm, gnome-screensaver, and some other packages, and rebooting the system, I noticed the impossibility to use GNOME desktop. I then run downgrades to older version of all pkgs I guess be of any relevance to cause this problem. Among these: gdm libgmome-kbd libxklavier gnome-screensaver gtk2-32bit (this was causing Firefox 3.0-32bit to doesn't start) Now GNOME comes back again, but it is lacking something, for example Evolution is having problem when I try to use GPG to sign email: impossible to input GPG pin code into the window. Wonder why updating opensuse, sometime can be so "dangerous" and how to proceed in order to maintain the system updated avoiding to broke something: Which kind of updater should I use?
