This might all be related to GNOME:STABLE. Maybe not using it will fix things? The brokenness of GNOME might be related to some fixes we had for xrandr. Do you use a laptop? It should be noted that GNOME:STABLE offers the latest stable GNOME version for past openSUSE releases, but since this is backporting, there couldn't be done as much testing as is usually done. I'll close the bug since now everything seems to be good again. My guess is that you had a bad mix of 10.3 and G:S, while you probably needed some other packages from G:S.
