A few comments to the above:
for ext3, data=ordered is the default. But slowness of the kernel bug
referenced in Comment #1 is caused by the fact, that there's an application
writing tons of data and in the mean time desktop does often fsync() which is
slow... This doesn't seem to be your case as far as I can tell.
Anyway comparison with 10.3 would be most useful so that we can see whether
it's just a recent regression or other problem. BTW: It would be interesting,
to leave OpenSUSE 11 userspace and just install 10.3 kernel (and it should be
also easier for you). It should boot just fine and would tell us whether it's a
change in kernel causing this or something else. Thanks for testing BTW.
