https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=376450 Summary: dm-raid4-5 module loads manually but not when added to initrd Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vyav@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer If I type: modprobe dm-raid4-5 dmraid -ay I see the dmraid modules correctly loaded and /dev/mapper shows my raid device and partitions. However, adding dm-raid4-5 to INITRD_MODULES in sysconfig kernel file, running mkinitrd, and then rebooting I get the following errors in boot.msg: <6>raid5: automatically using best checksumming function: generic_sse <4> generic_sse: 6441.000 MB/sec <4>raid5: using function: generic_sse (6441.000 MB/sec) <6>device-mapper: ioctl: 4.11.0-ioctl (2006-10-12) initialised: dm-devel@redhat.com <3>dm_raid4_5: Unknown parameter `5' .. FATAL: Error inserting dm_raid4_5 (/lib/modules/2.6.22.17-0.1-default/kernel/drivers/md/dm-raid4-5.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) It looks like "dm-raid4-5" is being parsed as "dm-raid4" with parameter "-5" ! Is there a "better" way to do this? Mailing list has not offered any solutions.
