https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=278893 Summary: instlux dumps user to GRUB prompt Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: cgroneman@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com With 10.3 alpha 4, if I try to use the windows installer (instlux), after it reboots the system it dumps me to a grub prompt. The Details: I have Windows XP (32 bit) and Opensuse 10.1 installed on my x86_64 laptop, with a free partition /dev/hda7 available to install onto. GRUB is my bootloader. If I chainboot to Windows, the Windows bootloader typically gives me two choices to boot, both the same OS, because I added a second entry into the Windows bootloader a while back and never bothered to fix it. That may be irrelevant, I'm just giving the existing setup. When I run the openSUSE10_3_LOCAL.exe off the 64 bit DVD, it copies a few files to the hard drive and asks to reboot. If I do so, and select my Windows GRUB entry, I am presented with my Windows bootloader, with three entries - the original two, and an additional one that is "openSUSE 10.3 Installer (LOCAL)". If I choose that option, it flashes some grub screens, then dumps me to a text mode GRUB prompt. If I select a regular Windows entry, it boots Windows and asks me to uninstall OpenSUSE 10.3. This may be related to bug 275571, but I think it's different. Please let me know what log files / other information I can provide. I will attach the menu.lst it installs to the Windows C:\. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
