https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=244591 Summary: Writing to floppy impossible using mtools Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: arahne@arahne.si QAContact: qa@suse.de First, mtools are not installed by default. They were installed by default on all versions of SUSE up to now. So you can no longer do "mdir" to check what is on the floppy. Secondly, even if mtools are installed, you can not write to the floppy, since the desktop user does not have write access to /dev/fd0 It seems that udev rules are wrong. The only way to fix it, that I could find, is to do chmod 777 /dev/fd0 as root, and/or insert this line into /etc/init.d/rc5.d/S21SuSEfirewall2_setup before rc_exit But it is much to complicated for our normal customer who would just like to write to a floppy, using a gui application which relies on mtools. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
