https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=242934 ------- Comment #8 from mvdv@spamcop.net 2007-02-09 15:13 MST ------- Hi, I am writing this from my work computer - you can probably guess that things haven't gone well. I downloaded and installed the kernel rpm. There were no errors or warnings visible. A YaST dialog indicated to reboot. On rebooting there was an extra menu item indicating the kernel that was just installed. I selected that menu item. The computer boots to a command prompt. I login as root. Then type 'startx' this fails complaining about an nvidia driver. I reboot and select the opensus 10.2 startup option - my standard startup choice. This does the same: boots to a command prompt rather than KDE, and startx fails with the same/similar error message about an nvidia driver. Is it possible for me to return to my initial setup? If so will I have a 'bizarre'/non-standard setup, or will my setup really be 'as it was'? I really don't have time at the moment to become involved is in a drawn out debug exercise - I'm going to try and return the HDD. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help at this time. I look forward to your reponse.
