Summary: Apply additional settings for udev
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: axel.braun@xxxxxx

Some DVD-frontends (like xine) look for /dvd. In the standard settings for
udev, this is not included. Proposal: in /etc/udev/rules.d/55-cdrom.rules add
dvd to the symlinks:
SYSFS{removable}=="1", SYMLINK+="cdrecorder cdrom dvd"

In the same context, when plugging a Palm Treo to a SuSE-system, always a
different USB-port (dev/ttyUSB*) is assigned to it. Not a real good idea when
syncing. I solved this by adding /etc/udev/rules.d/10-custom.rules
KERNEL="ttyUSB*", NAME="%k", SYMLINK="palm", GROUP="uucp", MODE="0666"
which creates a node /dev/palm.
Maybe you can apply this into the standard.
