Hey everyone,
Those of us involved with working the openSUSE booth for SCaLE 11x 2013 had the great idea for a custom banner for the booth... one problem though... we don't have a design, and non of us are skilled in computer graphics. If there is anyone who could help us design a Southern California themed banner, that would be very helpful.
Thanks,

Drew, Good to see you continuing to put energy into the preparations for SCaLE. I'm sure it will remain awesome thanks to your participation and leadership. If I may make a suggestion, you will get a faster turnaround response to your design request if you give some specific ideas of your vision. "Southern California-themed" is still rather broad. For example, maybe you have a vision of Geeko sitting on a hammock between two palm trees, or a vision of Geeko roller-blading down Venice Beach. Or Geeko walking the red carpet in sunglasses at a Hollywood movie premiere, and the fans along the velvet rope are all hackergotchis from Planet openSUSE. The more you give a direction of the concept you want and what you want to evoke to booth visitors, the easier it will be for an artist to crank out what it is you want in a very short period of time. Also, don't know if I gave the link before, but we've been printing our banners in the U.S. at Banners On The Cheap. Quality is very good, good pricing and fast delivery. http://www.bannersonthecheap.com/ The banner you and I were using for the past year was a 4 foot tall x 8 foot wide banner. If I were to do it again, I would actually split the design into 2-3 banners and hang them all vertically like a mosaic next to each other. FYI: Banners are printed on vinyl with screen printing. That means you only need up to 100dpi quality images. And because of the screen printing, you can actually take a smaller sized image and stretch it into the upload box on the website and it will still look great. But if you want high-detail imagery, don't do it on vinyl banners. Just my two cents!
