As it turned out, it doesn't matter - the rc6 kernel freezes when you use animations, so we need to use something simple for now anyway.
don't forget the marketting team have to speak about how 12.1 is great asap, with images. If the beta color is not the final one, it will be difficult to explain why...

Let's not put added pressure on the artwork team on this. We did ask during the Artwork BoF to have some artwork ready, the main focus of this discussion is to get something usable so the beta itself is ready to be published. Part of the beta delay is because of lack of artwork. Getting the Beta ready is the top priority now. Whatever changes exist between beta and final release, we're marketers and we can handle the "explain why" part. Richard Brown has come up with some great backgrounds yesterday that can be used for slide presentations and he'll convert them to templates after this frenzy period, so I feel comfortable with where things are right now and can wait a few days until Richard is ready to convert them to slide templates for us. In the meantime, it's exciting to see you all collaborate and I think you are all doing a great job. Thanks to all!
