[zypp-devel] How do I select specific packages in zypper/yast2?
With smart I can use a specific version like this: smart install kernel-source-2.6.22.5-31. How do I achieve the same with zypper/yast2? I also noticed that smart replaces the old package with the new one while this isn't really necessary. How do I prevent this in zypper/yast2? # smart install kernel-source-2.6.22.5-31 Loading cache... Even if this is really a usage / support question which does not belong into
this development forum:
In the YaST package selector, use the "Versions" tab on the bottom right to
select a specific version.

Thanks for for the suggestion. However when I try '# zypper in kernel-source-2.6.22.9-0.4' I get an error, what am I doing wrong? # zypper se kernel-source package 'kernel-source-2.6.22.9-0.4' not found Nothing to do. # zypper se kernel-source
| package | kernel-source | 2.6.22.5-31 | x86_64 | package | kernel-source | 2.6.22.9-0.4 | x86_64

This does not work yet. Maybe somewhere it the future. Currently 'zypper install --capability name=x.y.z' can be used. --capability will be the default as soon as we solve some problems with it, so it will be sufficient to write 'zypper install name=x.y.z'. Thanks for letting me know, I didn't realize that. I still can post suggestions to this list right?
In the YaST package selector, use the "Versions" tab on the bottom right to select a specific version.
Unfortunately this is impossible due to all sort of dependency errors. You can try for yourself by trying up/downgrade the kernel sources. -- Regards, Aniruddha Please adhere to the OpenSUSE_mailing_list_netiquette http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_mailing_list_netiquette -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: zypp-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: zypp-devel+help@opensuse.org

That's a different problem. In that case, you might really reconsider if it's
a good idea to try to install that specific version. Or if you have to
update / downgrade some other packages to other versions, too, which might
really quickly get you deep into dependency hell.
