Hi,
Is it possible to have the satsolver ignore a specific required dependency? For instance, one of our users wants to use the Gnome pattern, but doesn't want ggreeter to be installed. Banning it causes the entire pattern to not be installed, but I can't see a way to skip the requirement and continue with the resolution
You could try to mark the required package as removal, so it generates a conflict and select the solution "ignore some dependencies if package X"
Of course, if something required is ignored you are getting into hairy terrain. If ggreeter is not required, the pattern should _recommend_ it.
An openSUSE GNOME is only complete with ggreeter. So if someone wants to create another product, he needs to have another pattern.
