[yast-devel] Unifying YaST Contributing Guidelines
Hi! As you probably know ;) we have more than 100 repositories. There fore, we have more than 100 CONTRIBUTING.md files, all of them with (in theory) the same content. That's means that we need to do more than 100 commits and pull requests for every little change in that file. Like now, that we should fix the broken Bugzilla link[1] fixing the product param. So, I'd like to propose having the full content only in the yast-yast2/CONTRIBUTING.md file[2] and a link to this file in the rest of them. What do you think? Do you have a better idea? Thank you! How about creating a organization wide CONTRIBUTING.md file as documented below? https://help.github.com/en/github/building-a-strong-community/creating-a-def... Repositories that need custom contribution guidelines, can create their own version of CONTRIBUTING.md. Regards, Srinidhi.

That sounds very good to me. Reason why I do not like to have it only in yast-yast2 is that it won't be shown in other pull requests. But this way it looks reasonable for me. Even I didn't know about it. I searched the Internet and Github's help pages after seeing your email. I felt, this should have been a common problem/challenge for every project out there with multiple repositories.
A very big thank you for the input.
I'm glad, I could be of some help. :) Regards, Srinidhi.

Thanks! I have created the .github repository with the fixed CONTRIBUTING.md file and I have added also SECURITY.md file there [1]. Now we just need to get rid of the CONTRIBUTING.md from all YaST GitHub repos... [1] https://github.com/yast/.github -- Ladislav Slezák YaST Developer SUSE LINUX, s.r.o.
