[opensuse-xorg] xinerama not working with 10.3/64-bit
Hi all, I'm new to this list, though I've run Suse and opensuse for a couple of years now, and linux for much longer than that. I manage a small cluster of machines that ran a mix of suse 9.1 to 10.1. I finally was able to successfully bring them all up to x86-64 opensuse 10.3. The last machine I worked on was originally a 32-bit installation. The CPU was upgraded to 64 bit. Up till this point, I was able to drive a pair of viewsonis vp 181s with a matrox 450 with Xinerama in "clone off" mode, to esssentially give an extended desktop. With 10.3, I am unable to re-create that setup. I am stuck with X in clone/mirror mode. Below are the relevant parts of the xorg.conf. Am I missing something, or should I file a bug report ? Thanks much folks. cheers vinai ----- xorg.conf ----- ... For the "mga" driver you need HAL support for Xinerama/MergedFB, which is *not* available on x86_64. See Bug #239700. I suggest to give the new "mgarandr12" driver a try. sax2 -r -m 0=mgarandr12 Then you need to reserve the framebuffer for both screens during startup by adding Virtual 2560 1024 to your 24bit depth Display Subsection. Then configure your desktop with xrandr. Best regards, Stefan

Stefan Thank you so much for your timely reply. I had a chance to test out your above suggestions today, and was able to get the dual monitor setup working as before. cheers vinai -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+help@opensuse.org
