Hello, I just installed suse 9.0 I have an nvidia riva tnt2 64 My system is running right now in 1280x1024 16bit ...and I'm using the nvidia driver. My question is...how can I get it to run higher than 16bit. It drops down to 1024x768 if I go higher than 16bit. When I installed mandrake...I had to use xfree86 version 3 with the svga driver and I got 32bit 1280x1024. This is what I want with suse but I never saw an option to choose what version of xfree86 to install. What can I do about this?
Hi list, I have just installed my legal copy of SUSE Standard Server 8 onto a multiprocessor Compaq Proliant with all the original hardware (display, disks and cpu's) installed and working. The server as a Cirrus Logic GD 5430/40 [Alpine] video card installed. The best setting is the default 800x600 at 16 bit colour. If I change the video setting to any other the system becomes difficult to see visually as the colour on the screen becomes grainy. At the present resolution I can see all I need to see but the video is still very messy. The install process detected all the hardware correctley - except I still have these video problems. Can anyone offer me any advice. I have had similar problems with other Compaq desktops before trying to load this server. I can still work but I would like to find a solution/understanding to/about the problem. Any help / advice will be appreciated.
