Screen Freeze after leave the PC for a long while...
Hi all, I have encountered a problem. I leave my PC unused for a while, the screensaver turns on(even if I disable it in kde desktop setting) and then after a long while (> 1 hr). I find that the PC not longer response to my keyboard, mouse and the screen remain blank. I couldn't do any except hit the "reset" button of my PC. Is there any way to resolve it? It may be a problem with acpi. Turn it off and see if that resolves the issue. -- Until later, Geoffrey

Do you have a second networked machine you can use to test whether the first is alive? Try pinging and ssh'ing to see if it is alive. IIRC DPMS can set the monitor into two different power states, standby and off. Sounds a bit like the monitor is being turned fully off, and for some reason either the card or monitor won't wake up properly. -- Steve Boddy
