2.4.24 sources, patched them, compiled and everything is fine except the X and bootsplash.
In your /etc/X11/XF86config which display server is used? See section "device", paramenter "driver". Is it "ati" or "radeon"? Or maybe "vesa"? If it's vesa, you have to enable the vesa framebuffer driver. If it's ati or radeon, try to check that agpgart is ok (check dmesg output) and/or that the relevant DRI module is build and is working (if you're using DRI). Ciao, Roberto
