[opensuse-xfce] Where does XFCE4 store its icons / look for icons?
I'm getting a bit confused here about XFCE4 and icons - where does it store them? Take Adobe Reader for example: its XFCE4 menu icons are in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps, 20x20/apps, etc. However, as soon as I edit the .desktop file for Adobe Reader in /usr/share/applications to point to an icon named "AdobeReader10" instead of "AdobeReader9" it refuses to find a file named "AdobeReader10.png" in /usr/share/icons/hicolor. As soon as I put a link with that name in /usr/share/pixmaps it works though. Same goes for OpenOffice.org from http://www.openoffice.org - its Icons are in /opt/gnome/share/icons/gnome/16x16 and 32x32. However, linking them to /usr/share/icons/hicolor doesn't help. They have to be in /usr/share/pixmaps for the XFCE4 menu to find them. Then, when I add a starter to the XFCE4 panel, the OpenOffice.org Icons can be found under "Other" and not under "Applications" no matter where they actually are. It's all a bit confusing, since putting icons or links in /usr/share/icons/hicolor doesn't make them show up, however XFCE4 seems to be gettings its icons from there - what gives? -Martin -- Rieke Computersysteme GmbH Hellerholz 5 D-82061 Neuried Email: martin@rhm.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+help@opensuse.org

I think you have to run gtk-update-icon-cache command when you add some files to /usr/share/icons.
