[opensuse-xfce] New xfce default look coming soon in Tumbleweed
Hello! I'm happy to share with you that xfce will have a new look soon in Tumbleweed :). Here below is a recap of the changes: * GTK theme: Mint-Y-Darker-Teal (modern look that uses teal as highlight, matching openSUSE color schemes) * xfwm4 theme: Mint-Y-Dark-Teal * icon theme: elementary-xfce (inspired by Tango and Elementary) * Font: Noto Sans looks good and has a wide support for different languages, including Asian languages and emojis. Should be default * Font: Hack is a cool monospace font * Font: Hint Slight is usually considered a better default for hinting * Font: Added "rgb" value, recommended setting for LCD screens (if font looks like a "rainbow" you need to enable lcd filter in Yast > Font module) Please note that these changes will only affect new installations of TW with xfce and only if xfce4-branding-openSUSE sub-packages are installed. Existing users should not be affected by this. I really like the new look, the only thing I dislike is the Hack font for monospace but that's just my preference By the way: was there a decision on the Fonts discussion to switch to Source * Pro on the Factory list in October?

Should, but for some reason the xfwm4 theme on my machines was changed to the new default on my machines after the update from X11:xfce on Tuesday -- Marcel Kühlhorn Have a lot of fun!

AFAIK yes for branding and artwork but there was no action yet on its adoption across the Desktop Environments. If this will be the case in the future then the default fonts might switch to Source Pro for xfce too.

Sorry to hear that. It didn't happen in my tests but I will look into it.

Hi, first of all: thanks for pushing this forward and giving Xfce on openSUSE a more polished look out of the box! Just one small thing I came across:
* xfwm4 theme: Mint-Y-Dark-Teal
The window names in your screenshot have quite a big font size. It is quite close to the border's edge. Is this intentional? I'd propose to either reduce the font size or to make the top window border bigger. Regards, vinz. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+owner@opensuse.org

I think the screenshot maybe exaggerates a bit, I never noticed it
probably because it blends in with the menu bar.
I intentionally made the title font 12 instead of 11 to make it stand
out more but I will consider your points for the next update.
Cheers,
