Fwd: [opensuse-wiki] Role of templates in wiki organization

Rajko,
The other types of templates, could be example images with explanation how to annotate details, videos with instructions how to take and edit them.
All that has to be integrated in "Article writing guidelines", or "Demo video guides", and so on.
Yeah, the article templates are the ones I was thinking about in context of the Guidelines. Thanks for making this clear.
But ... we should also encourage the editors to use the wiki templates within created articles like e.g. "tested with openSUSE 11.0, 11.1, 11.2".
There is template http://en.opensuse.org/Template:TestedOn I has more deficiencies then good sides: - it doesn't reveal much about prerequisites to succeed besides to have installed certain released version, which is not much. IC where you're coming from. I thought about something like this http://translate.google.de/translate?prev=hp&hl=de&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwiki.... If there are different prequisities for certain openSUSE versions we may introduce a subsection with version-specific extra-instructions.
- it is visually too noisy. If necessary to hang on badges on articles they have to be much smaller, must have certain position that doesn't interfere with article flow, and that is the same for all articles.
Aligned. I'd vote for the very top of an article as the position for the template.
There is http://en.opensuse.org/Template:Infobox_Software that may require rework to include more information. If we have to have tested with then we have to make similar template.
Furthermore, if we decide to use the FlaggedRevs Approach proposed by cboltz as our QA Process, the editor may place a wiki template "under construction/WIP" on top of the new article until a very first revision has been approved by the wiki staff.
"Under Construction" is probably the most laughed out term on the web. See http://www.cs.utah.edu/~gk/atwork/
We have this http://en.opensuse.org/Template:Cleanup-in-progress but it is meant as temporary badge while someone is really working on the page, to prevent midair collisions. It should not be forgotten as I did with http://en.opensuse.org/ATI :(
We certainly don't have to call it "under construction". I just feel it appropriate to have a template in place for new articles (if we vote against the sandboxing approach) that notifies the user that the article he's currently reading isn't complete and/or verified and may contain errors, i.e. is under construction actually.
Actually it should not be used if editors have instructions how to rescue their version when midair collision happens.
Thus also the usage of wiki templates should be explained within the Guidelines where appropriate.
Yes it should :-) (Just, as mentioned somewhere, to find how to squeeze more hours in a day)
Still on the same page?
On templates it is easy to be on same page.
Most likely it is :-) Best, R
Best, Rupert

Well what i suppose with the above condition is ,in order to make smaller and eye-catchy(readers will be able to see it) template , It should be made something like the Template:Content Check ( http://en.opensuse.org/Template:Contentcheck ).With a little bit of creativity which i suppose wont be a tiring job :).Like linking it to the specified article/a small logo, etc And could be placed below the TOC or at the end of an article
