I would like to hear your opinion on this article: http://en.opensuse.org/File_System_and_disk_speed_issues It describes disk write test using dd that needs 4 GB of free space, which I don't know how will end if one has lesser. Overall it looks to me like someones cut and paste operation without much idea what belongs to topic and what not. I found it looking for uncategorized pages. This brings up the question, do we have policy what to do if someone has comment (objection, disagreement) on some article. -- Regards, Rajko.

I don't know of specific opensuse policy on that subject. several ways exists: * use the discussion page if your don't know for sure what is running * edit the page itself is you know definitively there is a mistake * add an "info" warning if you think this tip could be problematic. If you think it's reaaly dangerous, call for help here as you did :-) my own 2 cents :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

speaking about this particular article, I would say that it's here from the beginning of the wiki and nobody complain about it, that it's quite interesting as of his content, but bdly written for a wiki (many "I" think", "I'm not sure", not enough titles) and so should be rewritten as of the example, I don't know if it can hurt, but in case like this where it's just a syntax example (the byte size is not significant) it's of good practice to break the line with some ponctuation to make it unusable "as is". For example add (...) in the middle of the byte numer, to prevent a simple copy/paste jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

We need a {{cleanup}} template, that adds a note that this article needs attention, and also adds it to category 'cleanup' or similar. When we find an article that we think needs attention, we add this template. We can then easily find articles that need attention by looking in the category. And is a good place for new contributors to start. As they tend to like editing existing articles, than creating new ones, to begin with. I haven't got time now, so feel free to go ahead and create the template, or I will do it in a couple of days. Peter 'Pflodo' Flodin

Why not use {{Expand}}? It is less restrictive and includes both cleanup, More information and everything else. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Thanks you all for the comments. I agree with Peter that new template would be appropriate. The {{cleanup}} as new in the family would mark cleanly that is some problem with the page and that needs immediate attention. The {{expand}} I understand as is mild demand for attention that can be ignored until I have spare time. Particular example: Looking at the title it is almost complete miss, as topic implies much more text, something like chapter in the book, not a single page. To correct the problem rewriting the article will take some time and expertise. The performance testing is the small problem, the performance tuning is quite different. For now I'll put warning. -- Regards, Rajko.
