Unfortunately the web servers have no common design (Wikis, Build Service) or no design at all ;-) (Download, Repositories).
Not only that there is no design, but is hard to find what one wants to download in the present table. I'm not new here and I have to read whole table to find what I want.
we are very much aware of this fact. We are currently working on new concepts for download.opensuse.org. Once these concepts are finished, we will do usability studies before implementing. We hope to have a better download experience within the next few weeks.
We would like to harmonize the design of all these web servers, so it is always very clear that one is surfing on an openSUSE page - regardless of what server is visited. We would also like to make http://www.opensuse.org/ the single entry point for all openSUSE web servers, not only for the Wiki.
That would require smaller tail and more text and graphic in style with others.
Well, we haven't given much thought to the splash screen, yet, but I think it will most probably change completely.
So, please tell us whether you like it or not, whether you have got suggestions for improvement, or ... .
Improvement would be darker orange for the links, now it looks fine, but when comes to reading it is not that comfortable.
Yes, this seems to be the accepted opinion.
Empty space at the top in the middle is something that I don't find as good. There must be something from left side to fill that space.
Agreed - in fact it is planned to use that space (Robert will come up with a proposal soon).
The middle portion with frames around every title looks better. I would only use rounded corners, or top corners rounded and bottom as is, to be in style with the rest of new proposal, but absolutely not abandon them.
Hmm, not sure about that - but I think we will actually have to see a mock-up of it. Robert, could you please add this to your agenda?
The color pallete seems to be small. We have a lot of elements that should be highlighted and it will not work well with few colors in present pallete. We should be able to give some identity to different web pages and different content, not only text, but graphic and color too. I guess that you have that in plan.
Actually no ;-) - we have planned to use a very limited set of colors - otherwise we fear the servers would look too colorful. But we are thinking of an openSUSE icon set for the web servers... .
Register/Login looks much better now. Though it can have it's own frame, and than "Getting openSUSE" can go all the way up.
Probably difficult, because once you are logged in this will expand to "my talk, my contributions" etc. ... -- Regards Frank Frank Sundermeyer, Technical Writer, Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg Tel: +49-911-74053-0, Fax: +49-911-7417755; http://www.opensuse.org/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) "Reality is always controlled by the people who are most insane" Dogbert --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org
