I clearly see where you're coming from and I like the idea. I'll get back to the ubuntuusers community once we have ironed out our own wiki-concept (highest prio) and I'll throw that idea of yours into the discussion as well. Btw, feel free to participate in the discussion by yourself as soon as we find the time to meet the ubuntuusers team on IRC - I'll certainly keep you in the loop.
As Klaas says, this might be better solved upstream for things like KDE, GNOME, etc. For other materials, the Linux Documentation Project should have solved this problem, but didn't. It might bear talking with Ubuntu and Fedora about how we could solve the documentation gap.
