[opensuse-web] 2009-web-ToDos
Hello! I would like to discuss possible www.opensuse.org-todos for 2009 with you. My ideas till now are: * redesign first wiki page * implement that all o.o pages get the CSS (etc.) from static.o.o * add more screenshots, specially to the wiki * create screencasts to show openSUSE or help other users * we will have to find a solid way to add/publish the screencasts * offer some simple and pragmatic help pages for real beginners (kind of howto style) * may we could use help.o.o for this? * create a ToDo-List for release times, means: All the stuff that needs to be done during release time. And in general I would be in the mood for a complete redesign of opensuse.org to make everything slimmer, faster, easier to use, and more sexy ;-). I would like it in the style of the new webclient (Current snapshot of HTML/CSS development: http://webtest.opensuse.org/_webclient2/) . But this design is to slim to use it 1:1 on opensuse.org. A redesign is pretty time intensive, so it's more a topic for Q3++ 2009. I'm looking forward to read your input! The new design is already in use on http://features.opensuse.org, maybe you can get some feedback from users of it. It is time to refresh it.

One thing for all screencasts. Those that taking them need short introduction how to create one. Currently, presentations have bad audio and seldom show important details that presenter is talking about. One camera and microphon installed on it is not good solution for presentations that should have instructional value. BTW, that is not only our problem, many Google videos have the same problem.
* offer some simple and pragmatic help pages for real beginners (kind of howto style) * may we could use help.o.o for this?
Help.o.o is currently in bad shape. It shows some text then removes it, and then shows few options that can be listed directly without dedicated web page, which gives not a good impression.
* create a ToDo-List for release times, means: All the stuff that needs to be done during release time.
Having list will help to attract artwork contributors beyond mockups. Mockup is fine as idea, but having detailed list of fields (images) for each screen can help a lot to those that would like to go further and offer applicable solution.

On http://features.opensuse.org there is no way to remove feature from "My features" list. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-web+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-web+help@opensuse.org

On http://features.opensuse.org there is no way to remove feature from "My features" list.
The "My features" page shows all features that list you in any role. To remove yourself from a feature, go to the feature, in the persons box click on the pen, and then "Remove myself as...". I see, this is not obvious ;-) Greetings -- Thomas Schmidt (tschmidt [at] suse.de) SUSE Linux Products GmbH :: Research & Development :: Tools "Don't Panic", Douglas Adams (1952 - 11.05.2001) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-web+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-web+help@opensuse.org

How about edit button on the page with a list? That is how Mediawiki software works with the My watchlist. Instead to go from page to page and remove them from watched list, I click on link "Show and edit complete watchlist", then I get page with check boxes, check what I want to be removed, and press button "Remove checked items from the list". Similar way is in webmail, so it will be easy to understand almost for everyone. You have list of emails and you can check those that you want to delete, copy, or move, choose action and it will be cone all at once. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-web+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-web+help@opensuse.org
