[opensuse-web] Fwd: Re: [opensuse-artwork] RFC: Website Redesign (Recolor) That meets new branding guidelines

Depends on your who decides when it's finished, and why the progress stopped when it was so close. I'm new to this scene, so I don't know how these processes work. But the stuff that Henne (et al.) has made is fully functional. It just lacks some links and a font. Which could easily be fixed ( http://rolfrb.github.io/www.o.o/ ). Also, the translations are not ready. Someone would have to decide if we should wait for that. And I just noticed the search box - that would either have to be fixed or removed until it was implemented. If it is decided that the current suggestion cannot be used as is, we should at least should implement the color changes from Simon as they are ready, more correct and look better: * http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-artwork/2015-01/msg00012.html * https://www.enlightenment.org/ss/e-54ccb0b95e21c2.39510654.jpg If it's any help, I made a branch with Simon's changes: https://github.com/rolfrb/landing-page/compare/patch-2 Rolf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-web+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-web+owner@opensuse.org

My changes still need some touch ups, the login button needs fixing, as do the forum images and i need to do the mouse over hyperlink color. I also haven't tested the pages that live outside the frontpage, wiki and forums. None of that will be huge amounts of effort to finish up if we go down that path. We should probably do something with the wiki / forums to match the other landing page anyway. Yes. But! The landing page is one single page, the corrections are done as far as I can see. So they could be implemented without holding off for the rest. Rolf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-web+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-web+owner@opensuse.org

Thats true, i'll try and give myself a hour or 2 over the weekend to go over your branch and fix all the other landing page issues. If i get time i'll make a similar branch with the wiki + forum css changes, obs is slightly harder because its just 1 embedded sheet. I don't know if there is more regularly visited sites i should look at as well. I also wanted to add the top bar from the wiki and forum to the landing page if that's not to difficult so i might have a quick look at that as well. As most often, simple lack of time on our part. We managed to keep this alive for a couple of days after hackweek but then the day-in-day-out stuff took over our schedules :-/ In them meantime Cynthia (in CC) agreed to try to pick it up. Dunno what her status is currently. Cynthia?
I'm new to this scene, so I don't know how these processes work.
That's okay, that's why we can discuss things here :-)

It might be functional but the current state is now what we aim for. What we aim for is described on our trello board https://trello.com/b/1gb3O03N/landing-page
It just lacks some links and a font. Which could easily be fixed ( http://rolfrb.github.io/www.o.o/ ).
Nice, especially the quotes. Richard had a very good idea: The users coming from OpenSUSE installed in the machine will see this page as home page in Firefox: http://opensuse.github.io/searchPage/ (give it some time to load, github pages are quite slow) Zvezdana will work on a new design every 1 or 2 months and eventually we will create some javascript animations or small games if possible.
This is awaiting for the last confirmation but done for a first implementation. Zvezdana might work on the animation a bit more once it its approved.

Regarding the landing page designed by Manuele, we need to wait a bit longer because Ken and Myself will request changes in the UI, enhancements mostly, and for that we will need to wait at least 1 month because Manuele just arrived from holidays but today Ken left, and the 18th I leave, we need to be all together again to work on the final details. It's a bit of a complicated month, but everything will be done with a good final quality.

Looks pretty good, just a minor thing, could you add a link to the forums at the top right or use the same top bar as the wiki and forums? I used openSUSE for 2 years before discovering the forums, and that was only because someone pointed me to a enlightenment issue that was reported there. So i strongly believe we need to make sure they are visible. I also understand you may not have got to that point yet. Hi, This has taken longer then i would have liked as my wife has been working some overtime the last 2 weeks, my full changes for the landing-page should people want to push them are now in https://github.com/simotek/landing-page the screenshot image isn't 100% perfect because i couldn't find a layered copy of the original, but i doubt people would notice. Hopefully all permitting i'll get a first shot of the wiki and the forums stylesheets in the next couple of days.
