[opensuse-virtual] OpenSuse 11.4 Xen Paravirtualized installation get destroyed

Hi, I have OpenSuse 11.4 installation with 2.6.37.6-.0.5-xen kernel, where I tried to setup another instance of 11.4 on the same machine using paravirtualization. Both host and guest are 32 bit installations, further my processor supports vmx. I proceeded with Guest OS installation and at the end of the installation it goes to reboot and never comes up. I checked the image disk which is also deleted by the time. And when it tries to boot it gave following message "Bootloader didn't return any data! V, start failed ". After reading the bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=685064 , I updated the kernel to be 2.6.37.6-44-xen . However I am still having the same issue. According to the stack trace it's idle... Anyway, considering a recently analyzed problem, is this (mis)behavior dependent on certain characteristics of the source/destination hosts, or is it happening no matter between which you migrate? Or are all your hosts identical (as is generally recommended)? Jan

Hello Mates, i have installed the "yast2-product-creator" so as to make a live-cd iso with the KIWI Graphical Tool- Frontends (Image Creator and Product Creator). Well , everything , goes well , but finally i can't build the image with the repositories and applications that i want. If you can reproduce the issue with a SLE11 SP1 or 11.4 guest, that would be something we would want analyzed (and it would probably be a good idea to enter a bug, so we can actually track the findings). That seems indeed necessary in this case (albeit I would have thought this gets taken care of automatically): You may need to make sure that the Xen blkfront driver loads before the ATA one that was servicing your disk before installing the KMP. Hello, I have four Xen servers running Xen 4.0.1 hypervisor and OpenSuSE 11.4 for Dom0. I have a NFS server hosting all DomU images exported to all Xen servers. Most of my DomU's are OpenSuSE but various versions. Most DomU's are paravirtualised, though there are some less important old (2.4 kernel) DomU's that are fully virtualised. I noticed that if I reduce the number of VPCU's available to an OpenSuSE DomU, live migration of that DomU doesn't succeed - it migrates, but the resulting DomU on the target server is not responsive and is using up 100% of CPU (doing 'nothing'). The same happens if I use 'vcpu_avail' or 'maxvcpus' to start the DomU with a lower number of VCPU's, while still being able to add some later. No errors are logged in /var/log/xen/* and live migration works for Centos DomU's, which suggests that the problem is in the DomU (kernel)... Unfortunately I have no idea how to 'catch' what's going on there. Another issue is that even when live migration succeeds, the 'xm console' on the target Xen server is not working anymore for the migrated DomU. Then there's HVM and PV drivers I created an OpenSuSE 11.4 HVM DomU, which worked OK. But after installing xen-kmp-default, the DomU doesn't boot anymore. It loads the initrd, it also mounts the root filesystem, but then it 'hangs' at 'Loading drivers, configuring devices'. After a while, there is a shower of I/O errors: end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector XXXXXXXXX Other then installing the 'xen-kmp' packages, should I do something else?
