[opensuse-virtual] Xen hypervisor developement conforming to openSUSE

We are forward porting our secure hypervisor variant of Xen and tried openSUSE as an alternative to our previous platform. We like openSUSE so much that we'd like to make our hypervisor work conform to the openSUSE process. We are not working on dom0 or other guests, but the hypervisor code itself. We have installed the xen-3.3.1-testing-src rpm. At that point, we could just "make world" and continue as we have in the past, but it does not look like that would conform to the way YaST and friends are installing Xen. Is there a written description of what we should do differently than "make world" or "make install-xen", to make our prototype "YaST" conforming? Does anyone know how to do that? I've seen various mentions of something called vditool, but I couldn't get it to compile form the OSE package. [opensuse-virtual] shell window's font/encoding changes when logging in to DomUs' xen console?

i'm seeing terminal font oddities when logging in to xen DomUs' consoles. i can't even convince myself that this is xen-related, but i _only_, and reproducibly, see this problem with xen console login. i'm guessing there's a font/term/encoding setting i've missed somewhere ... in Mac OSX Terminal , @ my Dom0's prompt, root@server /root > root@server /root > echo $TERM vt102 i can, e.g., type "@" characters, and they display as normal, root@server /root > @@@@@@@ if i then log into a xen console, root@server /root > xm console testVM Welcome to openSUSE 11.1 - Kernel 2.6.27.7-9-xen (tty1). testVM login: root Password: Last login: Mon Feb 9 16:09:17 PST 2009 on tty1 Have a lot of fun... root has logged on tty1 from local. root§testVM /root > note that the prompt @ the DomU now displays, root§testVM ^ rather than the expected, root@testVM ^ further, typing @ signs, root§testVM /root > §§§§§ displays ^^^^^ characters incorrectly. checking, root§testVM /root > echo $TERM vt102 what's, to me, strangest of all, is root§testVM /root > exit (ctrl-] to Dom0 prompt ...) root§server /root > the Dom0 prompt, in the same shell/terminal window, now displays incorrectly as well. the only way i'm able to recover from that is to close the window and open a new one. any ideas what's going on here? not critical, but irksome ... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+help(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse-virtual] xenstore command documentation missing ?

Hello, I've been looking all over the web for manpages of the following xenstore commands : xenstore-chmod: Usage: xenstore-chmod [-h] [-s] key <mode [modes...]> xenstore-control: Usage: xenstore-control check xenstore-exists: Usage: xenstore-exists [-h] [-s] key [...] xenstore-list: Usage: xenstore-list [-h] [-s] key [...] xenstore-ls: Usage: xenstore-ls [-w] [-p] [-f] [-s] [path] xenstore-read: Usage: xenstore-read [-h] [-p] [-s] key [...] xenstore-rm: Usage: xenstore-rm [-h] [-s] [-t] key [...] xenstore-write: Usage: xenstore-write [-h] [-s] key value [...] They only list the options when you try them , I cannot find any documentation on them. They are from the xen-tools package, but that package does not contain documentation on them. Does anybody know where to find manpages for them, or what they do and what the flags are for?
