Hi all, I'd like to announce that we start to work on improve usability in YaST2 Printer module. Some screenshots are here: http://en.opensuse.org/YaST/Printer http://en.opensuse.org/YaST/Printer_add
We already have some new ideas (thanks Johannes) so I will update screenshots ASAP. Any comments and ideas are invited.
Bye, Michal
I would like to recommend your style of mockup presentations with big images. I have to scroll window once to the right and than scroll up and down to see all mockups.
Martin's style looks good as a web page, but if I really want to review mockups, than I have mouse click fest.
Click on image brings up restricted size image, click again on that image to see original, than click on back button twice to get back to index, or open images in tabs and move every tab, is what I have to do to review each of them.
I guess that others with 17" screens have to do the same.
Now question that friends will ask me when they try to use linux for the first time: Q: "What is [ |local|remote] CUPS server?" My A: 1) Server is the name for every program that is listening for your commands all the time and when you have one it will do what you've asked. 2) CUPS server is program that is managing printing. 3) Local CUPS server is the one running on your computer. 4) Remote CUPS server is the one running on other computer that you can reach over network.
I will keep in mind this. Btw - Printers/Queues is planned as default tab, so users don't need to know anything about other "expert staff" when configuring his own local printer.
I can imagine a lot more questions that Linux guy has to answer before new user has working printer. Too many for my slow typing.
