RE: Re: Registration problems with Ubuntu 20.04 and Uyuni

Well, the idea seems to have been correct but I'm still short on the execution. After creating a new GPG key pair to sign the repo (http://www.devops-blog.net/spacewalk/gpg-signing-apt-repository-in-spacewalk) and downloading and importing the key into the client, I now get farther but still fall short. Maybe the old public key copied from the Spacewalk web service is still in the apt-key keychain and wasn't replaced with the new one I generated for Uyuni despite trying to add the latter with apt-key with no errors. I copied over the script, and added it to a regular cron job and noticed that it was creating those files. What I neglected to do was perform the steps for creating a GPG key in the keyring with which to sign the release files, or notice that the .gpg and InRelease files thus being created were empty. Except for the 20.04-pool repo, which didn't have those files at all because I didn't bother with the 0-length Packages file, the other repodata sig files were all being transmitted as is and the client, seeing a 0-length file, must be interpreting it as a network error. I'll try to create the GPG key, rerun the script for the *Release* repodata files, and see if that helps. And you do not get a 401 or 403 indicating that you are not authorized or access is forbidden. Issue for me is, that you get 400 errors. Please check the apache logs (/var/log/httpd) and check, what files are exactly requested. Robert

For each channel there are two entries:

The encrypted strings are the same for the two entries for each channel, but differ from channel to channel.

So maybe the problem is that the auth.conf file which should include the files in the subdirectory are missing? I'm not sure what the syntax for that would be and it didn't look like that was necessary in the man page.

I've tried to run #sudo apt -oDebug::pkgAcquire::Worker=1 update and I don't see any indication that tokens are being submitted in the URLs listed in the output, but I don't know if that should be visible or not.

So how do I fix this? Is there a salt command I can use to try to replicate that part of the bootstrap and get more information to find out why it's failing? Is there a salt command I can use to generate and populate those tokens after the fact?

when zu register via salt, within your sources.list file created by uyuni, you should have a token attached to every channel that client is subscribed to.

A latest fix moves those token information into the auth.conf file (a .netrc like file). See also

Well, it’s a definite improvement. I’ve rolled that into the template customization scripts and I can now see more than 1 system registered. Thank you.

I’m now seeing a different problem.
