Hello All, I have four Dell Poweredge servers here at my office. I am trying to run SuSE Linux on one of the servers using the onboard raid. (Dell Perc2/Si) SuSE 7.2 installs just fine, after choosing the aacraid driver before running setup, but once the machine boots up, disk I/O is VERY slow. I am using three 9.1 GB 10K drives in a RAID 5 array, and if I do: time dd if=/dev/zero of=~/test.bin bs=1024k count=1000 I get a real time of 7m49s, and a sys time of 6m.32s. On another poweredge in the office that is using the Dell Perc2 DC (AMI Megaraid with megaraid.o driver) the same command completes in less than a minute. The onboard aacraid is not as fast as the megaraid under Windows NT, but I should not be seeing a 10x slowdown. Any help would be appreciated.
