hi all How can I display a picture while booting through lilo just like the corel linux. I know it is something to do with MESSAGE option in lilo but it didn't work when i tried to route it to a png file. Any one interested ? I haven't seen Corel Linux yet, so I don't know what you mean. If you're talking about something similar to what gets put up just before the 'boot:' prompt when booting the SuSE boot floppies, then this is simply done in LILO with the message option, like you said. Put it in the global section as follows: message= where is, well, the path to the message file ;-) If you're meaning something that looks like a (proper) graphic, and remains throughout the boot process where you normally see messages spewed out, then they're probably using a custom framebuffer device. I this case there's no easy way to get this working, and you'll have to end up digging in source files.
