I had to change the gfx card in my SUSE 9.1 system after the old one died. The swap was replacing a GeForce FX5200 with my old GeForce2 MX400. Now the replacement was very painless - a sax during the initial boot detected the new card with no problems. However, the display resolution seems to have changed - all fonts are smaller than before. Where is this information hidden in KDE? I managed to change my Gnome resolution to match the KDE one, but I don't know how to convince KDE to use the old setting! Don't know if this has anything to do with your problem, but I have noticed to things myself that effect font. The DPI and or Screen Size. Sometimes when Sax can't detect the monitor settings it will ask you for the size of the monitor. Some message that ends with "Do you want to specify now?" when you start Sax. It is asking for mm of the screen size that it uses to make the DPI settings for rendering. I found an interesting addition for my Display in XF86Config file to get my DPI square (on a widescreen monitor (1200x800)). I can't remember what it was. I don't have my laptop with me at the moment. If you want to know more, lemme know and I'll look at it when I get home Before I found this, I made sure NOT to specify my self and just picked a VESA dislay. Many thanks for this - setting Xft.dpi to 112 in /etc/X11/Xresources (with the line 'Xft.dpi: 112') has returned my system to how it was before - X was using 112x105 dpi for some reason after the gfx card change. I'll keep this advice to hand for future reference :-) John -- John Pettigrew Headstrong Games john@headstrong-games.co.uk Fun : Strategy : Price http://www.headstrong-games.co.uk/ Board games that won't break the bank Valley of the Kings: ransack an ancient Egyptian tomb but beware of mummies!
