Hi, After thinking it over I've decided to make this question. How on earth to get correct vga mode in 11.0? Booting is like SuSE 5.x or 6.x, not in supervga mode. When I had the related issues with grub install (fortunately already solved), I saw it was possible to enable vga modes for 1280x1024, 793 or 804; but in yast it's not be able to configure it. Would you please to tell me how can I fix this? I know it's something related to new kernels 2.25.x, but after searching for help over there, I'm still having this problem. Thanks a lot, Hudibras. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I think you are looking for yast2 bootloader under yast2 controlcentre system menu. Regards Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, sure. But yast2 bootloader does not give any help. I cannot reboot my machine and try another hundred of times recognizing the DVD and after boot into rescue system, and so on. My question was if there's a way to configure vga for grub so that it screen appears in vga mode, with splash in console. Do you know what I mean? Thanks for your answer. Hudibras.

Yes, I did it! But there's no way. I've tried with all numbers, 793, 804, 0x31A... However, while 11.0 installation, the nine or ten times I was rebooting to solve grub problems, vga mode was like old format, but afterwardsm it booted right, in vga mode and splash in console. I cannot understand. It's now that console opens with not vga or that classic old and big mode.
The files in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/fb have the various modes you can use. I looked at vesafb.txt & matroxfb.txt.
I have not got kernel-source! Kernel installed is 2.6.25.5 and I cannot find kernel-source 2.6.25.5 for x86_64, only for i586. I don't know where SUSE installation found that flavour because in repositories the only available is 2.6.25.4 :-( I'm searching for it but I cannot find it. I'm waiting for download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/cschneemann:/A110/openSUSE_11.0 include his kernel-default and source 2.6.25.7 update for x86_64. So I'm in the same way as before. Vga mode does not work. I hope you can comprehend my words. Thank you very much indeed. Hudibras.

HTH Oh, thank you! I'll save this link. I assure you I did search for it with webpin, yast, repositories and my usual mirror and I didn't find anything.
Thank you again. Hudibras.
