[opensuse] skype aborting opensuse 11.2
Hi everyone, I'm a new, infrequent skype user. I installed it about two weeks ago and it seemed to work OK. I set up an account and tried the test call, etc. Yesterday, when I actually *needed* to use it, it wouldn't work. It would start, but the window would close after less than a second. From the command line, the only message was "Aborted". This happen both on my laptop (i586) and desktop (x86_64). I'm not sure what has changed in the last week or two to cause this. I haven't touched skype or its settings in that time. rpm -q skype skype-2.1.0.47-suse111.i586 which is the latest version available. I've searched on the web, but found no real hints, other than to try export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 which didn't help. I've tried removing the ~/.skype, but that did not help either. Don, 1. remove the rpm you installed 2. download the static version 3. cd to the directory and run the static version from there. 4. if you add skype to the menu be sure you setup the working directory also in the same directory where skype is otherwise sound notification will not work. Let us know if it does the trick. BTW if it works is related to QT which is included in the static version -=terry=- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Terry, I have done as you suggested and now at least the program runs. I don't have my headphones and webcam with me at the moment, so I can't test everything right now, but this is progress.
