From the contents I can see that it is a mail message (forwarded "as attachment") containing a Powerpoint file. How do I persuade Evolution
Sorry to bring up this old one, I was sent an attachment described by Evolution as application/ms-tnef attachment (winmail.dat) that this is a mail and that it should open it as such? Thanks Hans

Hans, install the rpm "tnef" and hopefully evolution will automatically show the contents of your attachment... -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

Thanks Richard, After playing around quite a bit and re-mailing both the mail and the offending attachment to myself to have Evolution reprocess them, the best I got was a "MPEG video attachment (winmail.dat)" which it isn't is. But playing around with the tnef commandline util helped Thanks
HAve found tnef2txt - should have liiked harder before asking Apologies
