[opensuse] OpenSuSE 12.1 shutdown
Hi, I've installed the above version in my Lenovo z60 laptop and none of the commands to shutdown the PC don't work: from KDE, from console, etc. The sustem turns down all the services and unmounts the file system, emits the halt to the console, but doesn't turn off the PC. I also, was the first time, that I made an actualization, from OpenSuSE 11.4, and not a installation from scratch. Is this a bug or I've to tweak something? -- Regards, Lívio Ciprian -- Regards, Lívio Cipriano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I had a similar experience using systemd. 'systemctl poweroff' works for me. I also had to replace the shutdown command in kdmrc with it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Have you done all the updates for 12.1 since you installed it? I had same problem with shutdown but an update to something or other solved this problem. After my 12.1 installation yesterday, the same happened to my T410s. However, after rebooting, the shutdown works. Before, I installed a lot of updates. "halt" now does what is supposed to do, "halt" the system and not power it off, you have to use the correct command "poweroff" The desktop pieces has been updated to reflect this. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That means that after halt we can change to another state, ex. to some run level ?
The desktop pieces has been updated to reflect this.
But my KDE doesn't turns off the PC. Do I have to alter kdmrc, as another user suggested? -- Regards, Lívio Cipriano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
