This has been happening for a while. Originally it was noticed when running citrix, but that is no longer the case. When typing the keyboard just stops working. It's a PS/2 keyboard. Without using the keyboard how can I reset it? I could pull out the laptop and ssh back in but what command would I need to run. linux-zlo2 2.6.22.19-0.3-default #1 SMP 2009-05-27 10:35:34 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux open suse 10.3 Kde 3.5 -- Collector of vintage computers http://www.ncf.ca/~ba600 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Depends on why it stops responding. Have you tried another keyboard just to rule out hardware problems? Normally the PS/2 cant be hot swaped as USB can. Its not designed for that. It depends on your motherboard if its possible or not. But i have only encountered precious few boards that can. I only remember one instance where i could hotplug a PS/2 keyboard in all my years... Maybe it is this bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483232 You can check by pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 when the keyboard is dead, this should still take you to the console. Also, starting another GUI session with your mouse, it should give you a GUI where the keyboard works again. If both work as described, it could be that bug. OK it happened again tried setting> regional and assesinility and reset keyboard layout to Dell 101 no change crtl-alt F1 and Crtl-alt-bksp do nothing able to ssh in and check logs nothing obvious there just DHCP requests in the past hour Able to plug in USB keyboard an it is OK remove USB and the PS/2 does not come back Swapped out the old keyboard, the replacement feels like crap, hopefully it dies soon to rule out hardware problem. -- Collector of vintage computers http://www.ncf.ca/~ba600 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
