Maybe it is this bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483232 You can check by pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 when the keyboard is dead, this should still take you to the console. Also, starting another GUI session with your mouse, it should give you a GUI where the keyboard works again. If both work as described, it could be that bug.
