Why aren't you using Driver "r128"? (I must apologize for misreading your first post -- you did mention that it was a PCI card and that X hung, rather than just ran slowly -- it is almost bedtime, and I get a lot more foggy near my bedtime.:-)
actually i'm not sure :) i've spent nearly 2 weeks on this problem and changed so much stuff and then reverted back and then changed again i'm not exactly sure what i'm using anymore :) and with sax seemingly broken on this box it's a little difficult to get everything clean again. so the list was my last hope, but i didn't see anyone else with anything quite like this one so i am assuming it's me and in all likelyhood it is and i'm hoping someone spots what i've done wrong. bst rgrds Russell On 29 Dec 2003 15:09:53 -0500 Mark Gray <markgray-temp-1071686731@iago.nac.net> wrote:

I did some more fiddling i.e. moved the videocard back to the slot nearest the processor, the network card to the middle slot and removed the soundcard as for some reason the soundcard and the network card hate each other and it's easier to remove the soundcard and use the onboard audio (although it's rubbish) than todo without a net connection :) yast chunked along and let me reconfigure the card and set 3D although yet again it didn't stick and i had to modify the config file myself and sax decided to use the r128 driver but still no joy so probably is a bug. makes me feel a little less annoyed in someways because it doesn't seem to be me but more annoyed as it used to work and not alot i can do about it :( guess now i'll have to spend my time trying to solve the nic/soundcard conflicts instead. bst rgrds Russell On 29 Dec 2003 15:09:53 -0500 Mark Gray <markgray-temp-1071686731@iago.nac.net> wrote:
