Hi Guru's, This one defies all logic -- at least mine. I used YaST2 to install 'gjava' (GNU Java Compiler) and 'javarunt' (Java Runtime Environment). Both were included on the CD's for SuSE 7.3 PPC. Apparently this worked OK, since 'rpm -qa | grep java' returns: gjava-2.95.3-63, javarunt-1.1.8v2-19. The strange thing is that I cannot find the packages anywhere on my system! What's going on here? Solutions??? Regards, Alexander The Netherlands

The command $ rpm -ql javarunt | less and $ rpm -ql gjava | less will give you a list of files that are part of the RPMs. Pick one at random and see if it's there. If it's not, the only suggestion that comes to my mind is to re-install the RPMs using --force. -tara

rpm -V javarunt May give you an idea of what files have changed. Alexander, what makes you think the packages are missing? Regards, Jon
