Hello suse-linux-e, Have anybody good telenet for Win2k to Linux Server ? Send me link to this soft. And what I should do to open graphic (not text ) console from Win2k to Linux X-server ? -- Best regards, Vlad mailto:vlad@nkmz.donetsk.ua
Hi Vlad, A good telnet is "telnet." A better telnet is PuTTY: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ If you want to run graphical applications from Linux on a Win2k box, the best solution is VNC: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ Have fun! -- Bill On Thursday 23 May 2002 05:42 am, Vlad wrote:

No, it's installing CygWin XFree86 and running X directly :-) -- Rachel

You can do that???!! Since when?
Since for a long time. http://www.cygwin.com/ :-) There are also plenty of commercial X servers for Windows, for doing exactly this sort of thing. -- Rachel

Looks like it's come a long way, at least according to their page. It wasn't that long ago that the web page for XFree86/Cygwin carried a "it's here but I wouldn't reccomend using it yet" type of warning. Glad to see that they're making real progress there. I'm probably more happy, though, that I don't really need to care that much anymore (i.e. bye bye M$).

Some work pretty well, some suck. -Nick
