[opensuse] 11.2 What setting makes 'ls -al' sort with directories first (before files in the listing) and which conf file?
Guys, I would like to have ls -al default to listing all the directories first before the files. (the 11.2 default is just alphabetically with files and directories mixed) What controls this behavior? ...and... where is the proper place to make the change (default for all users)? -- David C. File: /etc/sysconfig/language RC_LC_COLLATE="POSIX" And you have to logout and login again if I am not mistaken. Regards, Erwin -- Erwin Lam (erwinlam@dds.nl) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

l --group-directories-first or ls -al --group-directories-first -- If stupidity got us into this mess, then why can't it get us out? - Will Rogers -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If you want it for all users see /etc/bash.bashrc Suse has some special alias lines in there that you can modify and they then apply to everyone. -- If stupidity got us into this mess, then why can't it get us out? - Will Rogers -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
