Should I be worried ~ partition table
fdisk tells :- Partition 4 does not end on cylinder boundary: phys=(1023, 15, 63) should be (1023, 254, 63) ....................... How can this be fixed, or must one re-format the hard disk, please ? best wishes, richard ____________ sent on Linux ____________ ------------------------------------------------------- -- best wishes ____________ sent on Linux ____________

Did you get a reply to your question because I am interested in the answer as well. If you did get a response would you mind sending me a copy, please. Cheers. -- In a period of great joy and pleasure you are comforted by the thought that tragedy is just around the corner.

Hi :) Zentara kindly told me, not to worry, because Linux is smart enough to deal with it. In the meantime, I had moved my system to a 2nd HD ~ re-partitioned, re-formatted, and, then copied my system back with tar :) { like this :- tar clf - . | ( umask 0; cd /mnt; tar xvf - ) } best wishes ____________ sent on Linux ____________
I'm not trying to sell Partition Magic, but I have found that it does a reasonably good job in resizing partitions (both Windows and most Linux). However, only version 7.0 supports Windows XP NTFS. I've been using Partition Magic at our Boston Linux installfests. I've found it to be the most useful stand-alone partitioning tool, but it is expensive. Since most of the partitipants bring in their PCs with Windows pre-installed, our choice of tools is a bit limited. BTW: I'm hoping that my copy of SuSE 8.1 arrives before the next Installfest. -- Jerry Feldman <gerald.feldman@hp.com> Enterprise Systems Group Hewlett-Packard Company 200 Forest Street MRO1-3/F1 Marlboro, Ma. 01752 508-467-4315 http://www.testdrive.compaq.com/linux/
