Notebook's fun don't turn off
Hello, I have SuSE 8 installed in a Compaq Evo N150 notebook. I noticed that the fan don't turn off. In windows, it turns on and off if it's cold or hot. This made me think that who controls it is ths OS. How to make SuSE do it ???? Thanks Marcello

No, see you have it backward. It only worked part of the time in Winduhs because of buggy software. - -- I am not now, nor have I ever been, a member of the demigodic party. -- Dennis Ritchie -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAj0BYrEACgkQnQ18+PFcZJt61gCfSGcJdn0zqv6CMQW+ADLowhAn dGEAnisgBdoRSnqpXWw2XHOcPyLwokNl =Er1h -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I use a Toshiba satellite and the package toshutils ... here you have the possibility to turn the fan on and off ... but as far as I know the best practice is to keep the fan running ... it is good to cool down your hardware all of the time Oliver -- ... don't touch the bang-bang fruit
