[SLE] Comments on Jim's rejected message :-)
Hi, people. Jim comments on his message which got rejected: It looks like I couldn't help by replying to all recipients after all... This was rejected because I'm not a subscriber. IMHO, they'd be better served if they relaxed the rules a little and allowed replies from non-subscribers as long as they have references to accepted messages. It could be an interesting idea, indeed. But looking at the reject more closely, I had a sudden cold feeling in the spinal chord (:-): Hi. This is the qmail-send program at suse.com. I have the humble opinion that software freedom goes much further than mere availability of sources. It goes with mutual respect, pleasurable relationship, and the feeling of being in a better world. When a piece of software is maintained by abusive people, it is much less free than it appears to be. Consequently, to my judgement, `qmail' is not really free software. I'm not at all disputing `qmail' technical merit, nor the technical skills of its author. But those who accept being verbally abused, just to spare a few bucks, do not share some human values I praise[1]. I admire many of SuSE's choice, but probably not this one! :-) P.S. - Just for the record, I never had any kind of problem, myself, with Daniel Bernstein. But for a lot of years, I saw how he addresses others, and this is just plain not acceptable. I'm fully avoiding his software. -- François Pinard http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~pinard -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
